Misty Music is not like the big giants. We are an independent music publisher that has specialised in managing and developing music rights for over 50 years. Our business rests securely on three pillars that together maximise your income:

  • Sub-publishing in the Nordic countries: We represent foreign catalogues and act as local experts. We ensure that international music is not only played, but also correctly cleared in Sweden and the other Nordic countries.
  • We will find the money: We don't settle for standard solutions. We scrutinise settlements, chase down missed claims and often pay out faster than industry standards.
  • Film and advertising: We don't just manage - we sell in. Through our wide network, we actively place music in commercials and TV productions.

Why is a publisher needed when STIM exists?

This is a question we are often asked. Organisations like STIM do an important job of raising money on a global level, but they function very much like a giant collection machine. They are reactive. We work proactively. The difference is in the details - and the details are where the money often gets stuck.

The music industry today is extremely concerned with metadata. If a song is registered incorrectly, if a percentage is missing or if the title is misspelled in a report from abroad, STIM does not know who to pay. The money then risks ending up in a ”black box” until someone claims it. We act as detectives and scrutinise the data before problems arise, so you get paid for what you actually created without it getting lost in the bureaucratic noise.

It's also about speed. When money travels the usual route between copyright societies in different countries, it can take a long time to reach your account. As we often collect remunerations directly from the source - for example via our partners in Japan, Germany or the United States - we can shorten lead times significantly. We make sure that the cash flow works and that the money reaches you faster than through traditional systems.
